Writing workshops

Wordiness. Jargon. Burying the main point.

These are just some of the writing habits that keep people from connecting with their audience. I teach business professionals how to break these patterns and capture people’s attention. Through a mix of instruction, discussion and real-time exercises, participants learn how to:

  • Know their audience

  • Get to the point

  • Use active voice

  • Cut needless words

  • Illustrate their points

These principles may sound simple, but their impact is profound. After my training, one business development team cut the length of their client emails in half by deleting unnecessary words. Another tax team strengthened their arguments to auditors by switching from passive to active voice.

In both cases, small but mighty changes increased the chances that readers would read the entire message, absorb it, and take action.

My approach

What makes me different

Most people don’t know why their writing isn’t resonating with readers. In my workshops, I use samples of the participants’ own writing to create “before” and “after” examples so they can see firsthand how a few simple changes can make their writing stronger. ‍ ‍

How AI can and can’t help

Writing is hard, and there’s no denying that AI can help streamline the process. But to use AI effectively, you first need to understand the fundamentals of good writing.

Without that foundation, you’ll end up with language that sounds stiff and generic. People can tell when something was written by AI, and they typically don’t like it.

That’s why I start by teaching the principles of good writing, then show you how to apply them using tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Copilot. AI becomes a collaborator, not a substitute for critical thinking, creativity, and human insight.

The result? You can write better and faster without sacrificing the original ideas and authentic voice that engage readers.

Writing workshops are for

Anyone whose job involves turning expertise into clear, persuasive writing, including:

  • Business development, marketing, and communications teams

  • HR and learning and development professionals

  • Operations and practice management teams

  • Client-facing professionals (lawyers, consultants, financial advisors, etc.)
